Episode 10: War Stories

In Episode 10: War Stories, Mal and Wash find themselves in the hands of the criminal mastermind Nishka. They are subject to torture and are in need of a rescue mission. The entire crew of the Serenity band together to invade Nishka's space station and retrieve their stolen comrades. A gun fight rages on inside of the space station and the crew members are retrieved. This is a very brief summary of a much more in-depth story line. The significant message that can be taken from this episode is best put by Wash who said, "Haven't you ever heard of no man left behind?.” From the previous episode 9, the crew is like a family and willing to do anything for each other and in this episode the crew displays exactly how far they are willing to go for one another. The crew charges into a mission that could have ended in almost certain death to everyone with their guns blazing in order to save Mal. This selfless action made by the entire crew to save one of their own shows that they truly will go to any length to take care of each other even if the situation presents certain death. They are willing to face the odds and if not succeed, at least they went down trying. The crew is not willing to take any loss and is extremely protective and caring towards each other. The fact that their emotions display an idea of a pack mentality causes their group to work very well together and function fluidly.
